Response "Why We Fight"

Is it right that a person could kill another person in war and be considered a hero, but if someone kills a person not in war they are just considered a murderer? I for one think it is. I'm not a fan of war or fighting of any kind and have no intentions of joining the armed forces, but i support our country and stick behind them all the way. I agree with the 3 different criteria that Augustine wrote that were used for determining war. I am a person who still hopes of a world where countries are peaceful with one another, but i guess not all people feel the same way. I do realize when using words to try to settle things don't work war can be necessary and then it's acceptable to take these steps. I think in our countries past there have been many times where we were right for declaring war...but then also other times when we have not. I think in this day and age some have become to quick to want to play the war card.

  1. I agree with you that I am not a fan of war but do have a great amount of appreciation for them protecting us. I to hope that the world will soon become an extremely peaceful place but realize that countries have problems with other countries and cant just talk about there problems and have them resolved.

  2. wow, I think you bring up a really good point with your first sentence. I also agree with your stance on the concept of war, as I am as well not a fan. I think people often neglect to think of killing that occurs during a battle as murder, since we choose to not put that kind of label on it; yet, really what is the difference?
